One day it will dawn on you—you are not going to live forever. You will become tired of the superficial. You will have had your fun and what used to give you pleasure will become old. There will be a deep-seated need for something more. At some point, honesty will prevail.
This new realization will be a relief. For a while now you’ve known you’ve been hiding from what needs to get done. Diversion is easy for a man in this world. It’s easy to get caught up in getting by and then running off to one thing or another.
But then enough is enough. You’ve hit the wall and your soul is calling out to you. You know what’s right and what needs to be done. But it’s going to require a new level of performance and a new level of commitment.
Good. Because being stagnant is getting old. The easy path has become tiresome. It’s time to choose the hard path and embrace the struggle. Your true nature is calling.
Your destiny is waiting and nothing else really matters. The path is right there in front of you. It’s crystal clear. Tunnel vision is beginning to overtake everything else in your life. There is an energy and new seriousness building inside you.
It’s time to walk across to the other side and the burn the bridge behind you. You will light your past on fire and there will be no turning back.
You will never stop and you will never quit.
Enough with the soft life. At some point a man must choose to harden himself. He must acquire a burning desire for personal greatness and the hard core discipline necessary to get there.
Even if you’ve been diligent and working hard there is another level inside you. And then another level after that. It’s very easy to fool oneself about effort and discipline. You can do more.
You will start with the basics and get up early; during the work week and even on the weekends. And you will use that time productively in your pursuits. You will drop the shallow distractions and get to work.
If you add an hour per day during the week and 3-4 hours each day on the weekends by not sleeping in, that’s a solid 12 or so additional hours per week. If you’ve been working 40 hours that’s a 30% increase in productivity.
And the same goes for the evenings and the rest of the day during the weekends. How many more stupid television shows and games do you need to watch before you’ve had your fill? How much longer are you going to remain a spectator to life before you decide it’s time to bust a gut every day so that you can become your very best?
In my book there’s at least another 3 hours each day of the week available to you if you cut out television. Perhaps you watch a movie with your woman once a week and a sporting event once in a while as a respite. But ask yourself if it’s worth the trade off to spend hours each day watching other men take action at the expense of your own immense potential.
So it is decided then. You will essentially quit television and get your ass out of bed each day of the week to become at least 75-100% more productive simply by creating the time to take action.
This is the cream gentleman. This is the cherry on top. It is this additional time, compounded week after week, month after month and year after year that will add up to personal greatness. With direction, energy and heart you cannot fail. You will become twice the man.
Yes indeed. You can do more and you will make this idea part of your character—part of your essence. And as you continue to chase the light of your destiny with virtue and heart, eventually the magic will begin to happen.
Just as luck favors the prepared so does fate favor a man who will not stop. One day, after braving difficulty and duress simply on faith for as long as it takes, circumstances will begin to fall in line. One day it will be like an invisible hand clears a path and then lines up opportunity and success.
And even if this does not happen, it doesn’t matter.
Before God you will not stop and you will not quit.
Worry and Fear
Unburden yourself from worry and fear. Become a better man and acquire the legendary endurance needed to outlast them all by freeing yourself from anxiety. Learn to chase down your goals with the lighthearted spirit of a man focused solely on the now.
Apart from immediate physical danger, most worry and stress comes from focusing on the future rather than on the present. Many of you will obsess about all the negative possibilities that could someday occur. You will constantly run various scenarios through your mind as a kind of preparation and planning for possible difficulties.
These repeating mind “movies” of the future can become an unhealthy obsessive habit stealing your energy and morale. I know of this because it has been something that I have struggled with over the years. It can become a compulsion and a crutch of sorts, distorting your mindset and slowing you down.
It is smart to plan ahead for various contingencies and it does pay to be prepared over the long run. There is a difference, however, between prudence and obsession. Plan and be done with it. And then live your life in the present moment.
If you are living in a future of worry, you are wasting your time and wasting your life. Putting your psyche through a meat grinder like this is unhealthy and will deter you from your endeavors. It will burn your reserves and there will be a price to pay. Stress and anxiety will manifest themselves in a negative fashion in some way; there has to be an outlet. And it will limit your potential.
Remember this: the future (as well as the past) is an illusion. All of life is lived in the present moment—in the now. You do not live your life in the future. This is a story made up in your mind. It is not real. Only the present is real.
Bring this concept—this reality—to the fore of your mind. Make it a priority to begin living your life in the now. Have your soul become a witness to your mind and take note when it runs astray to worry about the future. And then give your mind the order to stop and bring yourself back to the immediate task at hand.
Over time you will indeed train your own mind to listen to the commands your soul. Use your mind as a tool. Do not let it rule your life. Tell it you will plan for contingencies as best you can, but that you will exist and embrace the immediate moment. Your soul will now take precedence.
Make this a priority and you will indeed unburden yourself. It will be a huge weight unloaded from your daily existence. In a sense you will be a new man, your soul—not your mind—will now rule the day. You will add laser like focus, superior energy and a sense of joy to your smoldering ambition.
All together these will lift you up to a new level, a higher plane. You won’t get tired and you won’t get fed up. You will cut through each day with a vengeance and life itself will become intoxicating.
Yes indeed, there will be no stopping you and you will never quit.
You will continue the struggle for its own sake. The means can become an end. The process itself can become enough. The pursuit and the journey can become noble and meaningful on its own.
At some point perhaps you decide you don’t care if you don’t succeed. All that matters is that you will never give up. All that matters is that you are willing to fight the good fight (thanks Anton) with honor and courage no matter what. Sometimes this is enough.
In this way you will never tire. You will never get fed up. You will feed off of the challenge. It will energize you and propel you forward.
You will become indomitable.
If this is the case, your level of commitment and endurance will shock those who witness your efforts. Some will be visibly shaken by the thought of your unrelenting drive and vigor. Your level of dedication will scare people. They will be blown away by your zeal for what you do. Jaws will drop and heads will shake in disbelief.
No matter what you will always get back up. And you will do it with energy and verve because it is who you are. Your pursuit is noble. It is a matter of principle and this is how you have decided to live your life. You are a man on fire.
What you do and how you do it is not done to impress anyone. Recognition is of no importance. It is simply your essence. It is your Purpose and a part of your Life Mission.
Your goal is to impress simply yourself and the Creator. And to do so with a man’s Virtue.
A man committed as such is a rare and powerful force.
Live your life on a higher plane. When difficulties arise, engage them with an unrelenting spirit. Become a man among men and justify your life in this broken world of ours—become indomitable.
Become Like a Rushing Current
We are on this earth to face challenges. Do not become like stagnant water. Get up each day and take action. Become like the crisp, clear, oxygen infused unrelenting power and force of a rushing current.
Keep at it and erode anything that stands in your way.
Wake up early, cut out the shallow distractions and transform your character into one that embraces the hard path. This is living as a man should. This will impress the Creator. It’s a challenging world we live in and it requires men of hardened character who are willing to take action and get the job done.
Stop worrying and being afraid; live your life in the present moment. Always have a plan for the future, but become like a Zen master in all that you do. Focus intently on just what you are doing. This will clear your mind of anxiety and stress. And then your endurance and performance will become legendary.
Make it a reflex to embrace any challenge that presents itself.
Take action, take comfort in the discomfort and focus only on the task at hand.
Consider yourself indomitable—because you will never stop and you will never quit.
All the best,
