In order to become a Force of Nature, the pursuit of Self-Mastery is not optional.
Embrace Self-Mastery, for there is no more powerful way for a man to live.
Doing so will render you at peace with yourself and in congruence with the Creator.
No matter your circumstance, there is no more that a man can ask of himself than to pursue his very best. As with much of life, it is the journey as much as the destination that really matters.
If you have committed yourself to Self-Mastery, life will become an exciting and meaningful adventure. Embrace your Ultimate Self, embrace your highest destiny on this planet – pursue Self-Mastery.
Pursuing Self-Mastery is not a competition with anyone else. The focus is on you and you alone.
For once in your life, ignore where you stand relative to others and simply bear down and forge ahead. Become blind to the time, the effort and the cost. Clear your mind of the clutter that is holding you back.
It does not matter where your path has led you, what mistakes you have made or how old you are, it is never too late to make a hard core decision. Put your past behind you. This will be your first and most important step. Have the spine to push off hard and never look back.
The decision we are talking about here is about living with proper self-governance and continuously forging new ground in your life. Set your limits and set your goals. Be smart about what you will not engage in or stop doing and be brave and ambitious in what you will strive for.
Every man who is honest with himself knows what he should be doing to be at his best. But it is only the very few that will have the courage and discipline to take the proper action each and every day.
Each man is born of a unique genetic makeup. He is also equipped with the most magnificent creation in the universe: the human brain. The Creator did not waste his time crafting you as such from nothing.
Despite the various abilities each man is born with, there still remains the glorious possibilities of Self-Mastery and the many successes that it will provide. Challenge yourself and your mind will adapt and grow. The physical and chemical makeup of your magnificent brain will respond as it was designed to do.
Part of the beauty of His creation, however, is that we have been given free will. Free will includes the decisions to do nothing and make the wrong choices. These are now not an option; for you will pursue Self-Mastery as it was intended.
You will take action and make the proper decisions. Deep down you know what you need to do and inherently you know what is right.
Chose to accept the path of Self-Mastery and double the glory will be yours, for you have chosen well.
The most important prerequisite for Self-Mastery is having a defined Life Mission that will guide every decision and every action you take from here on in.
You must have a core set of values and principles to live by. This is your Life Mission.
These ideals will be the foundation for your life and the driving force behind your single minded pursuit of Self-Mastery.
My Life Mission: I will Pursue God, Excellence and Quality.
What this means to me is that I will:
- remain right with God (ethic)
- challenge and conduct myself at the highest level every single day (process)
- strive for and attain specific distinguishing outcomes (results)
Without a Life Mission you will remain lost in the wilderness. You will react to life and circumstance rather than act upon them. A concrete Life Mission will always bring you back to where you need to be as challenges and difficulties knock you off stride.
When disappointment and the fog of life rears its ugly head, when your motivation and excitement fade, remember and reach for your Mission. Ignore the confusion and noise. Make a promise to yourself you will blindly follow those things that really matter.
Blindly hold on to your Mission and take action.
For every time you overcome and do so, it will become easier the next time. A new confidence and certainty will develop inside you. You will think to yourself, “here we go again, but I have been here before and I will handle it.”
The key is to define what is most important to you at the most fundamental level. Define it and then make that your Life Mission. You will then be ready with the Armor necessary for hardship and challenge.
No matter what happens, you will have your Mission in place and continue in your quest.
Use your Life Mission as the inspiration for a specific and written Life Vision.
A Life Vision is a picture in your mind of an ideal day at some point in the future. You will have attained specific goals and be living your ideal lifestyle. This day will extend itself indefinitely into a rising Trajectory where you pare away at your very best in a never ending quest for self-improvement.
The key word here is Vision. You must be able to see in your mind as clearly as possible your new self in the future. It should be you living as Force of Nature, with Self-Mastery and clarity of purpose.
You will be a man of character and accomplishment. You will have attained specific goals in the many varied and qualitative aspects of your life.
There will be a certain level of satisfaction in your accomplishments, but still much, much more to do.
My advice is to see yourself in six months and then 5 and 10 years out. Six months is the increment you will shoot for and then evaluate your progress.
Work on yourself hard for the first six months and set the tone for the rest of your life.
Physically you should be able to realize a jaw dropping transformation.
Financially and intellectually you should have significant momentum – momentum which should eventually create the greatest potential for change in your life. For a man’s success will never surpass his personal development.
With long term goals set at 5 and 10 years, much can be accomplished. In only 1 year you can radically change your life. In 5 or 10 years the world can be yours with ambitious and consistent application.
Many fortunes and great feats have been accomplished in these time frames. Why not add your name to the wall of personal greatness?
It is said that true mastery takes about 10000 hours of focused application. Another round figure thrown about is 10 years.
Unless you meet your Maker through an untimely demise, these periods of time will pass no matter. You might as well set your Life Vision as part of your pursuit of Self-Mastery and live life as it was intended.
Live your life as a Force of Nature.
By definition, Self-Mastery does not take a day off. This is an unyielding daily pursuit.
If you decide that 1 day a week should be a day of rest then make it so. For perhaps it is to be an important element in your life of Self-Mastery and part of your Life Vision. Just make sure that all remains consistent with your Life Mission.
Use your Life Mission as the umbrella and shield for all that you do.
Constantly recreate your Life Vision in your mind. See yourself living it in the future. Speak it to yourself when no one is around. Your mind and words will make it real. This is your fuel.
You will be driven by this fuel and pursue Self-Mastery for its own benefit, simply because it is the best way for a man to live. And as a result you will eventually become a Force of Nature.
All who encounter you will realize it. They will sense a man of purpose and energy. Their encounters with you will leave them on a natural high. They will enjoy being a part of your aura and spending time with you. Women will stand a little closer than they should and men will look up to and admire you.
How does this happen you ask? The answer is non yielding daily application.
At first it will take deliberate effort and you will be tired. Be smart. Eat right and plan your rest. When you get up at 5 am the next morning recite your Life Mission, review your written Life Vision and then start anew.
Over time you will indeed attain mastery over yourself. Your physicality and the makeup of your brain will adapt and grow. This Self-Mastery will become instinctual and intuitive. Like an athlete in the “zone” it will all become natural to you. It will become part of your essence.
You will not stop and you will never quit.
Make the commitment to daily application and reap the glory.
Set Your Boundaries
Besides defining with absolute clarity what you will do with your life from here on in, a man of Self-Mastery must also define what he will not do.
Do yourself a favor and set your boundaries ahead of time. If your core decisions have already been made, when the time comes your default reaction to potentially damaging circumstances will be the right one.
The fog of life will be less likely to have its way with you and take you by surprise. It would take an active contradiction on your part to take the wrong path. You are stacking the deck in your favor.
No man is bulletproof, give yourself every advantage by deciding ahead of time the things you won’t do and the activities you will not participate in.
At a certain point in life every man knows his weaknesses and his fallibilities. He becomes keenly aware of them as he disappoints himself over and over again. Most of these things, as we know, revolve around short term gratification or a short term loss of composure or discipline under duress.
Take stock of yourself. Be honest about your failings. At a certain point it gets to be a little old, doesn’t it? It gets to be a little dull repeating the same poor behavior. This is no way for a man to live.
Make a hard core decision about the things you will not allow to happen again in your life.
Then, add to your momentum by utilizing Replacement Theory. Instead of running away from undesirable behaviors and bad habits, replace them with their positive complement.
Use your Life Mission and Life Vision to obliterate the undesirables from your consciousness.
Instead of just avoidance, in which they still remain in the fore of your mind, replace the shallow distractions that have haunted your character with the unyielding chase for your Ultimate Self.
Let the pursuit of the positive replace the avoidance of the negative. There is more power and reliability in this vein.
A man of Self-Mastery is a man of personal power and reliability.
He trusts himself.
Trust in yourself and you’ve won half the battle. You are on your way.
All the best,
