Self-Mastery is a requirement for all men fully committed to the lifelong pursuit of self-improvement. For without mastery over himself there can be no permanent and rising Life Trajectory.
The Creator has given us all a unique and powerful genetic makeup. We all have tremendous potential buried deep within. It is a man’s sole responsibility to discover and cultivate these gifts.
Perhaps this is what makes it all so worthwhile and so glorious to pursue without yielding, your very best in this life. After all, if it was easy there would be no legitimate glory.
If Self-Mastery were just handed out like the winnings from a lottery ticket, it would be a contradiction. Likely as well would be the end result. Accomplishment that is unearned tends to corrupt and destroy, for such is the natural order of things in this life.
It seems that one of the primary principles He has laid bare on this earth is that Free Will shall reign over all. Yes indeed, it will reign as a double edged sword that will cut both ways in a man’s life.
Choose to cut through life in the right way. Make the decision to pursue and achieve Self-Mastery.
Learn to master your outlook on life. For even with the most ambitious Life Mission and Life Vision, a poor outlook will eventually lead to failure.
Everything you do starts in your mind, even your outlook. Make sure to include a positive, peaceful and indomitable spirit as part of your daily affirmation.
Don’t wait around for circumstance to affect your mindset. As with the rest of your life, be the author of your own reality.
And don’t make the mistake of waiting until you reach your destination to change your outlook. For without the latter you may never reach the former. You might as well enjoy the journey along the way. Doing so will fuel and hasten your success.
Repeat to yourself every day as an affirmation that you are positive, enjoy peace of mind and have an indomitable spirit. Say the words and make it real. Train your subconscious mind to believe it so and the miracle that is your brain will reprogram itself as such.
It will be our little secret that you will begin to speak out loud that which you wish to become when no one is around.
Yes indeed, you are lean, fit and powerful. You read and learn each day. Each and every morning you wake up with energy and ambition. And you will handle each day’s challenges with confidence and ease.
These are the things you will speak to yourself before bed, when you first get up and throughout the day.
You will choose your outlook as a matter of Free Will.
You will pursue and achieve Self-Mastery.
Way back in the day as hunter gatherers, we as men had the opposite problem. Back then, the issue was eating enough to survive. Today the issue is eating less to survive; or more correctly, eating appropriately to survive.
Seems we have been the victim of our own success as a civilization in this area. Like much in this world, a good thing can be twisted and boomerang right back at us in a negative light if we are not wise and disciplined.
A man must be wise and employ Self-Mastery to avoid the many easy and seductive trappings in this life. Today, one of those trappings is a man’s diet.
Here in the west, and especially in the United States, food is so plentiful and so rich it has gone from a primary human concern for survival to an addiction and lifestyle responsible for the majority of our health problems.
Look around you next time you are in public or at work and all you will see is fat.
In the mid 1960’s the average man in the United States weighed about 166 pounds. Today, the average woman weighs the same, up from 140 lbs. The average man today weighs 196 lbs – that’s an increase of 30 pounds. And just remember, there was no shortage of food back then.
Trends are such that today, 69% of adults over 20 years of age are either overweight or obese.
Interestingly, it seems like this problem with excess and very unhealthy weight gain has occurred in the past 30 years or so. At least in the United States, even though food has been plentiful for the past century, this problem with body fat is relatively recent.
A man must make a conscious effort to separate himself from the masses by recognizing that pursuing the norm will slow him down. Don’t kid yourself, the long term consumption of excess calories, processed food and simple carbohydrates will severely limit your potential – if not your life.
To become the Force of Nature you were designed to be, you will need all the natural energy you can get. There is only so much mental ambition and outlook can do for you if you are sabotaging your health via improper diet.
Do yourself a favor and start eating smart.
Limit alcohol and eating out. Cut out sweets and sugared beverages. Eat whole foods cooked at home. Make meat, vegetables and fruit the mainstays of your meals. Flip the food pyramid and consume grain based carbohydrates in the minimum. Prepare healthy lunches for work days.
Educate yourself and pursue Self-Mastery in your diet.
Look good, feel good and take the world by storm.
Age or circumstance is no excuse here. Fitness is a necessary component for Self-Mastery.
Once again, learn to enjoy the process as well as the destination. Start simply. Do as I do and take baby steps to start. All that matters here is the constant pursuit. Be reliable, focus on yourself and get better every week.
We are not professional athletes and our primary leverage for success and self-improvement as men is with our minds. You cannot deny however that we live in a physical world. Especially as a man, having a solid physical frame will add many benefits to your life.
Lose some weight, get yourself in shape and you will be taken more seriously and get more respect. It’s just a fact of life.
Socially, healthy looks are an advantage. Just think of every pretty girl you see. It just feels good on the eyes doesn’t it? Well the same goes for men who have the Self-Mastery to get themselves fit and project power and explosiveness. Women will be more attracted to you and men will admire you.
The return on investment here is probably one of the best available. For it doesn’t take that much time on a weekly basis to make consistent gains. In six months you can undergo a significant physical transformation.
My advice is to do sit-ups or crunches every day no matter what. Make it an absolute and you will stay focused and benefit from a solid core. Time to accomplish: 60 seconds per day.
Next on the agenda is alternating workouts of resistance training and sprints with one day of rest between each. In other words, lift, rest, run, rest and repeat. You lift every 4 days and run every 4 days with a day of rest between workouts and plenty of time to heal.
Lift for 30-45 minutes and run sprints for 15-20 minutes.
Start off easy and without ego. If this is new to you, speak with your doctor first.
Read up on proper lifting technique, start with the bar only and run at a snails pace to start. Slowly work your way back into shape. There is no hurry. Better to go easy and make consistent gains than get hurt and not be able to train at all.
The above is my routine. I work 60 hours a week in my operating business and 20 hours a week in this online business. I’ve been married over 25 years and walk around with the same athletic frame I had at 19. I have also been 30 pounds overweight before bringing myself back to my prime. If I can do it working 80 hours per week, so can you.
Your body wants to get back to healthy and fit. Make the decision and follow through. As well as the powerful social benefits, you will develop a new physical energy to match your outlook and ambition.
Without over doing it, but by training as described above combined with a healthy diet, get ready to return to greatness. Your energy and drive will return like never before. Combined with your Life Mission and Life Vision, you might just find yourself with the most energy you’ve ever had.
